WSPPN & P2Rx

The Western Sustainability and Pollution Prevention Network (WSPPN)

The Western Sustainability and Pollution Prevention Network (WSPPN) is an alliance of pollution prevention (P2) programs throughout EPA Region 9 that includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Nevada.  Ms. Walden managed the four state network from 2010 to 2015.  The direction for WSPPN was provided by a 20 person Advisory Board comprised of pollution prevention experts throughout Region 9.   Creation of programs was based upon a review of WSPPN by EPA and the states in 2010 and a needs assessment she conducted in 2012. WSPPN received feedback on its direction from EPA and during the quarterly BOD meetings organized by Walden.

The Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange Network (P2Rx)

WSPPN is part of a national network of 8 regional information centers around the country called the Pollution Prevention Resource Exchange or (P2Rx) established by the EPA. WSPPN collaborated with the other centers where they shared best practices and worked together on a nationwide basis to promote P2Rx and pollution prevention.  Walden managed the P2Rx marketing group to help strengthen the P2 and P2Rx brand.  She negotiated and launched the monthly P2 Impact GreenBiz column with a cumulative readership of over 50,000 people and worked with pollution prevention providers across the nation to author and publish 37 articles in Greenbiz.

Walden spearheaded the Behavior Change Webinar Series to educate on social media and how to change behavior during which time eight Webinars were cobranded by P2Rx and delivered with much fanfare.  Walden was invited to participate in special Taskforce by EPA to strengthen communication by EPA, state P2 programs, and P2Rx centers, and business in 2014-2015.  As part of that effort, P2Rx developed a campaign and logo for the 25th anniversary of the P2 Act to commemorate 25 years of effort by an entire industry to prevent pollution and reduce the use of natural resources.  Walden led the group to plan the campaign and design the logo.
